Gum Chewing

Nick has been able to chew gum for awhile now. On rare occasion, he will ask for a stick. The other day he made the request and chewed it for a good long time...a good long time to ponder:
Nick: "Mommy, why do people chew gum?"
Mommy: "Good question. I have no idea."
