"I'm too busy at school to think about you."

This was Nick's answer to Mom's question: "Do you miss me when you are at school?"

His reply continued to mention that he was too busy doing projects, playing and eating snacks.

Letting go of my son to go to kindergarten has been a bittersweet experience. I have always heard that the parents' job is to give their child "roots and wings". Though one might think that his response would bring a small crack to my heart, to the contrary, it tells me that we have given him confidence and sturdy roots to go out to experience the world on his own.

His wings have begun to sprout!

"It's that useless dinghopper pot out there mowing the lawn."

After a long day of work, racing the sunset around the compound, this is what the curlyheaded one observed from the dinner table on his high perch looking out the window while feasting on Mom's pasta. Geezz.

Impressing the teacher...

Nick's Kindergarden teacher relayed to us today that Nick keeps the class in stitches everyday. On the first day, his teacher asked each student to share something about themselves.

Nick: "You may find this surprising, but I like scary things."

Of course, it was the preamble that set his teacher off... and, of course, we (or any reader of this blog) aren't surprised at all. ;-)

A Visit to Brown's Berry Patch

If you don't see a picture here, my server is down...The whole family took a trip to Brown's Berry Patch in Albion, NY. It is a nice halfway distance for us to meet up with our friends from Lewiston, Kevin and Lyn S. and thier kids Colin & Lauren. It was a perfect day and a lot of fun. The kids loved it. For kids the age of ours, I highly recommend the trip there.
