The Sleep-over

On Mom & Dad's movie night, Nick & Corinne get to do a sleep-over (they both sleep in the same room). After, Dad walked up an hour after lights-out after a suspicious crash. The darlings were fast asleep. Then, Mom went up:
Wide-eyed Corinne: "Hi Mom"
Nick: "She (Corinne) keeps talking about things that aren't important."

I never had a sister. These lessons came much, much later.

Visit to Great Falls, MD

Took the kids to a very nice trip about an hour away to Great Falls National Park near Potomac, MD. Even got nipped by a baby copperhead. At least Nick is convinced that it was a copperhead. I'm thinking that it was a baby rat snake, but that doesn't make for the best copy in the 2nd grade Monday morning journal. That sent Nick into a bit of a tizzy. He took very good care of me.
